Dr.  ‘Mudia  Igbi 


Dr 'Mudia Igbi is a music scholar and performer who boasts an exciting career that has, over the years, effortlessly blended academia and artistry. With two PhDs in Music - the first in Music Composition and the second in Directing and Music Conducting, Dr Igbi has established his expertise in music composition/arrangement, theory, history, music appreciation, and performance. As an organist, he has been renowned for captivating audiences with his deft touches, expressive, and nuanced performance techniques, while his choral directing and conducting has earned national and international acclaim for its interpretation and re-creation of existing musical works. Dr 'Mudia Igbi's research has inter alia , focused on African traditional/art music, music education, and music performance. With many scholarly publications, awards, and performances to his credit, Dr Igbi continues to inspire and educate budding music performers and academics through his multifaceted work, with the aim of leaving behind an indelible mark and enduring legacy. He is Fellow, Ife Institute of Advanced Studies, Member, Society of Music Educators in Nigeria, and the Association of Nigerian Musicologists. He currently serves as Senior Lecturer and Acting Head, Department of Theatre and Film Studies, University of Africa, Toru Orua, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. He is also music director to many church and secular choral ensembles.
